The Animal/The Benchwarmers/Paul Blart: Mall Cop/Talladega... (DVD)
Collection of five comedies. In 'The Animal' (2001) Marvin Mange (Rob Schneider) dreams of being a tough, heroic police officer but is too weak and wimpy to ever pass the entrance exam. However, when he is critically injured in a car accident, a mad scientist uses animal organs to rebuild his broken body, and when he recovers the organs give Marvin a new vitality. In no time at all, he is one of the city's most celebrated cops - but he also has some unsavoury animal instincts to contend with. In 'The Benchwarmers' (2006) three guys (Schneider, David Spade and Jon Heder) try to make up for their lack of athleticism when they were younger by forming a three-man baseball team to challenge a full squad of elementary school baseballers. They develop a large following of left-out kids as they head into a high-stakes, winner-takes-all game with the best team of kids in the state. In 'Paul Blart - Mall Cop' (2009) Kevin James stars as Paul Blart, a good-natured, quiet-living man working as a security guard at a shopping mall having failed in his ambition to become a state trooper owing to his weight problem. When a gang of criminals disguised as Santa's helpers put the mall under siege and take hostages - including Paul's young daughter Maya (Raini Rodriguez) and the long-time object of his affections, Amy (Jayma Mays), Paul takes matters into his own hands and becomes the unlikely hero of the day. In 'Talladega Nights - The Ballad of Ricky Bobby' (2006) NASCAR stock car racing sensation Ricky Bobby (Will Ferrell) is a national hero because of his win-at-all-costs approach. He and his loyal racing partner, childhood friend Cal Naughton Jr. (John C. Reilly), are a fearless duo known as Shake and Bake by their fans for their ability to finish so many races in the #1 and #2 positions, with Cal always in second place. When flamboyant French Formula One driver Jean Girard (Sacha Baron Cohen) challenges Shake and Bake for the supremacy of NASCAR, Ricky Bobby must face his own demons and fight Girard for the right to be known as racing's top driver. 'You Don't Mess With the Zohan' (2008) stars Adam Sandler as Zohan Dvir, an Israeli Special Forces soldier who fakes his own death so he can reinvent himself as a hairdresser in New York. He throws himself into his new identity with admirable gusto, romancing his clients by performing 'special services' in the back room - but is eventually recognised and must face losing his newfound life and career.
